Safe Flying Tips when Using Remote Controlled Airplanes

When it comes to remote controlled vehicles and toys, taking your Remote Control action to the skies is the most fun of all. You get to fly remote controlled airplanes faster than most other Rc Models and you can go all kinds of directions once you get used to the controls. Of course these models are small and fragile and even the sturdier models are subjected to heavy damage if you crash at a very high speed. Fly your remote plane safer using these flying tips.

First you need to take a closer look at the remote controlled airplanes that you own. If these are your first remote planes and you are not sure how to categorize these plans show them to people who have more knowledge on the subject. You might have a remote plane that is too advanced for beginners. Search online for beginner remote controlled airplanes and compare them with the models that you have. It is best to practice with these types of planes because they are not highly priced and easy to maneuver. These planes are also known as RC trainers and they normally use balsa wood as their primary material which is quite stable. Park flyers also serve as good remote controlled planes for training if you want to fly in a limited space. The Rc Planes that you assemble are also a good choice because you can rebuild them if they ever crash.

Once your remote plane is good to go, head to a location where you have plenty of space to fly without obstacles and obstructions like trees or telephone posts nearby. If you have any park flyers, your backyard is a suitable place to practice since you won’t have to worry about Nitro.

Checking the wind is also important before flying any of your remote controlled airplanes. If you feel that there is a lot of wind, it would be better to wait for things to calm down or else you will have a more difficult time changing direction and adjusting the plane’s speed. A neat trick is to tie a ribbon to your controller’s antenna and see how much the ribbon reacts when the wind blows. As long as the ribbon is not parallel to the ground and under about 30 degrees, you can fly safely.

Launching the remote plane is all about gradually building up power. Only give the plane full power if you are hand launching it. It is best to do this with another person or an expert so you can keep your hands on the controls the whole time so you can immediately control the plane while it is flying. Keep the throttle at full 100% until your plane is high enough. Although the exact altitude depends on the size of the plane, 150 to 200 feet should be enough for standard sizes. Once you reach that range, cut the throttle in half so you can start working with the rest of the controls.

When flying the plane, the general rule is to prevent your plane from stalling at all times. Think about how normal planes fly because the physics apply to these remote controlled airplanes. Trying an oval shaped flight pattern without raising the nose too high is a good start. Then when you are finished, land the plane by slowly reducing the throttle as you descend to the point that the plane is gliding.
